We exist before the crisis
We are Help
Mental Health
1 in 5 young people in the UK experience a mental health challenge, yet most never receive support. Long waiting lists, stigma and a lack of accessible tools leave thousands struggling in silence.
That's why we exist. We provide free, evidence-based emotional intelligence training for young people aged 11-25, equipping them with the skills to understand their emotions, build resilience and thrive before crisis strikes.

Clear, Shape and grow
Who We Are
Help Mental Health doesn’t just support mental health, we build it from the ground up.
We are a youth emotional intelligence organisation.
We use sport, movement and culturally rooted community spaces as our vehicle, partnering with coaches, gyms, schools and community hubs to deliver EQ development where young people already are, not where the system expects them to go.
Our work is prevention-first. We sit upstream of crisis, building the emotional skills that keep young people in education, in community and in control of their own story.
Our Model: Clear, Shape, Grow
Delivered through sports sessions, gym-based mentoring and community events, our Clear, Shape, Grow model turns everyday movement and activity into structured EQ learning.- Clear the Mind → Decode what’s really going on beneath the behaviour. Is it poverty? Gender pressure? Unprocessed trauma? We help young people name it, understand it, and release the noise.
- Shape with New Skills → Equip young people with the 5 EQ skills that determine success: self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making. These aren’t abstract concepts, they’re daily tools.
- Grow into Leadership → Young people move from reactive to resilient, from crisis to confidence. Not just in the classroom – in the field, in the community and in life.
Our Mission
Empowering young minds through emotional intelligence
Help Mental Health exists to build emotionally intelligent young leaders from ethnically inclusive communities using sport, movement and trusted community spaces as our starting point. We sit before the crisis. We give young people the EQ tools, relationships and opportunities they need to stay in education, in community and in control of their own story.
Our Vision
A generation of emotionally intelligent young leaders
Where EQ is as valued as academic achievement, sport is recognised as a vehicle for development, and no young person from ethnically inclusive communities has to navigate pressure, trauma or identity alone.
Why We're Different
We don’t ignore the uncomfortable truths. Poverty, racism, gender pressure and structural inequality aren’t sidebars in our work, they’re central to how mental health shows up in the communities we serve.
We’re evidence-based, grounded in neuroscience, trauma-informed practice and EQ research but we’re never clinical. We speak the language of young people, delivered through the spaces they already trust: sport, community and culture.
And we measure everything. Coaches see shifts in attitude and engagement. Schools see reductions in behaviour incidents. Young people see real change in how they navigate their lives.
WHAT WE DELIVER:
- Mindset of Champions – EQ coaching embedded into sport and fitness sessions for young people aged 11–25. Delivered in partnership with sports clubs, schools and community organisations.

Our Journey
How we got here
Founded with Purpose
Help Mental Health was born from a simple belief: every young person deserves access to emotional intelligence tools, regardless of background.
First Funding Programme
Launched Chat Your Truth, our first community forum encouraging young people to self-express and build emotional literacy. Reached 200+ young people in our first term. This taught us that young people engage most when the space feels like theirs.
Community Expansion
Deepened partnerships with local councils, youth organisations and community sport spaces to deliver EQ workshops, peer support and parent training, embedding the Clear, Shape, Grow model in real community settings.
Digital-First Approach
Launched our free online EQ resource hub, guided exercises, audio sessions and worksheets, so learning continues beyond the session, the pitch and the programme.
National Recognition
Recognised by the NHS and leading mental health charities as a model for youth emotional intelligence programmes.
